Three NEW 4-Week Classes Class 1: Sept 16 – Oct 7, 7:00-7:50pm, $60 Learn Basic
Blues Guitar Learn basic
blues lead and rhythm guitar in the style of B.B. King, Buddy Guy and the
Chicago Blues Legends. We'll study rhythm guitar patterns using a variety of
common blues chords and techniques. We'll also dig into the five Pentatonic
scale patterns essential to blues lead guitar playing, including the famous
"B.B.'s Box." Learn major and minor blues, and riff-based blues
patterns as well. Suggested Books & Resources: B.B. King Guitar Signature Licks
DVD and any B.B. King or basic blues songbooks or instructional books. Class 2: Oct 14 – Nov 4, 7:00-7:50pm, $60 Learn to
Play in the Style of Stevie Ray Vaughan Learn songs
such as "Pride and Joy," "Cold Shot," and "House is
Rockin'," as well as others. We'll examine the trademark rhythm and lead
guitar techniques and riffs Stevie Ray is known for! Suggested Books & Resources: Best of Stevie Ray Vaughan and
Stevie Ray Vaughan's Greatest Hits Signature Licks DVDs. Any Stevie Ray Vaughan
songbooks, preferably "Authentic Guitar Tablature" type books. Also,
blues lesson books and/or scale lesson books, such as Adam's "Logical Lead
Guitar" DVD course. Class 3: Nov 11 & 18, Dec 2 & 9 (no
class on Thanksgiving, 11/25) 7:00-7:50pm, $60 Learn Lead
Guitar Essentials – Extended Guitar Clinic! Study lead
guitar with "Logical Lead Guitar" and "101 Guitar Tips"
author Adam St. James. Adam will walk you through the use of all five
Pentatonic scale patterns, introduce you to the seven Diatonic (major, minor,
and modal) scale patterns, teach you "Must Know" riffs, and get you
playing basic lead guitar. It's like a four-week version of Adam's popular one
day lead guitar seminars! Suggested Books & Resources: Adam's books and DVD courses "Logical
Lead Guitar," "Incredible Scale Finder," & "101 Guitar
Tips."
Teens – Two NEW 6-Week Classes Class 1: Sept 16 – Oct 21 6-6:50pm $90 You'll
learn Green Day classics such as "Holiday," "Boulevard of Broken
Dreams," "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)," "American
Idiot," "Know Your Enemy," "21 Guns," and "Wake
Me When September Ends." Learn the Signature Riffs, chord progressions,
strumming patterns, and some lead guitar too! Pre-requisite:
Must be fluent with Power Chords and basic guitar playing. Suggested Books & Resources: Any Green Day songbook, preferably
a "Greatest Hits" book, any chord book, such as the Hal Leonard
"Picture Chord Encyclopedia (edited by Brookdale group guitar instructor
Adam St. James). Class 2: Oct 28 – Dec 9 (no class Thanksgiving, 11/25) 6-6:50pm $90 You'll have
fun learning a bunch of great classic rock riffs and basic lead guitar solos –
think of the greatest hits of Guitar Hero or Rock Band – such as "Jessica,"
"Mississippi Queen," "Iron Man," "La Grange,"
"Paranoid," "Same Old Song and Dance," "Sunshine of
Your Love," "Welcome to the Jungle," and more. Along the way
you'll discover how these riffs all come from important scale patterns and how
you can improve your guitar playing by mastering those scale patterns! Suggested Books & Resources: Any Guitar Hero, Rock Band, or other songbooks featuring the songs listed above. Also, instructor Adam St. James' book "101 Guitar Tips" or "Logical Lead Guitar" DVD course.
